Anyone bred Clown Plecos?

Ok I said I wouldn't, but I picked up 2 more clowns tonight. I've got plenty of territorial barriers and my tanks well planted. Is there much chance of them breeding? I've done some reading but not had too much of a chance yet, but any wee tips etc will be appreciated

i have a couple of fish books and it says " common in aquaria just has to make the clown plecos habitat like the dry season. also this site has some stuff on breeding clown plecos....Hope this helped

Best bet is to allow the tank to go for a month or two w/out water changes (should be fine in a planted tank) then change about half the water volume with slightly cooler water to simulate the end of the dry season.
You do need to be sure you have both sexes, and it may take some time for the female/s to become gravid. I'd supplement their diet with NLS pellets if you can get them, my L-204's thrived on them for years, and the extra protein will help condition the female/s.

Mmmmm, my tank isn't planted anymore, not sure if I could leave it a month. Will have to ponder that. Thanks for the advice though

Throw in some duckweed, if the fish don't eat it it will soak up nitrates like a sponge as it runs amok.

You could look on planet catfish.

I have 6 or so types of plecs, I use pleco caves and feed them veggies and they just keep popping out little plecs for me.

Most of the vegetarian ones are easy to keep.
