Flourish Excel
I finally picked up some this weekend and was curious as to how often you guys dose.
The directions say 5 ml. per 10 gallons I think after a WC then 1 ml per gallon every other day following.
Do you guys follow this routine or just dose regularly 2-3 times a week?

my 55g is heavily planted so i usually dose 2 times a week with my hagen liquid ferts, it all depends on how planted the tank is

I dose my 29 gallon planted tank 2 times a week with the hagen liquid ferts. They are really taking of since i started using them.
20g long 84w, fluorite, planted, 5 Habrosus Corys, MTS, pair of Clown Pleco (L104)
20gal tall: home to 10 brevis. Letting them pair off then will put the rest into the 55.

But how much do you dose.....I have a 29 as well and after my WC I did 1 tablespoon...15 ml.
I also am looking to dose a little heavier in addition with my stable Co2 now to get rid of my BBA.

use a pipette or syringe and do spot treatments on the algae. I use a 12cc syringe w/ a short piece of airline instead of the needle.
I have used Excel at 3 time recommended dosage every other day to do this.
Turn off your filters, wait a minute or so the currents to stop, fill your syringe or pipette and slowly apply the Excel on the algae, wait 5 minutes restart your filter. Do this every other day for 3 treatments. Staghorn and beard algae will change colors within 24 hours.
Remember, this is a treatment of a symptom, not the cause.
Algae occurs because of an unbalanced tank, too much light, fluctuating CO2, or a fert imbalance

I have Flourish's dosing chart sitting right in front of me.
1 capful per 10 gallons for the first day and thereafter, for the next 5 days, 1 capful per 50 gallons. Water change on the 7th day with Excel dosing resuming the following day again. In other words, 6 days of dosing with larger dose the first day.
I have talked to others who give a large dose in the beginning and had no problem and got rid of algae very quickly and only dose half doses a couple times a week.Cycling With Fish?•• The Fishless Cycle••

Sorry... I use dry ferts from Greg Watson that I premix according to exactly what my tanks need at the time.

The dry ferts are a heck of a lot cheaper. Here's another site where people buy them.
