Thread: What is this?!

  1. Default

Norman's lampeye. Actually another kind of killi. Schooling species, likes quite a bit of plant cover. Can be surprisingly active for something so small when they're happy.

    You guys are amazing.

    Thank you so much!

it's very interesting to read about this killi fish... if you look at my first post in this thread, the lady thought the blue eyed rainbow was a killi!... from a different continent, but at least she kinda knew what she was talking about!

Yeah, that's why I had to smile at your second question and really wanted to answer it.

    thanks, man!

I'm a sucker for blue eyes... what can I say?...

  6. Default

sorry to bring this back from the dead again, but...

I grabbed a new unknown pair of fish today... They're less than an in inch long with lots well defined orange/black vertical stripes.

What really got my attention was the second "eye" at the tail that's black and outlined in gold, just like their actual eye.

The guys at the store didn't know what they were and the owner didn't answer his phone, so they sold me the last couple for $8.95.

    Any ideas?... Thanks in advance!

To answer your question its an Emerald Dwarf Rasbora

One idea is that you stop bringing things home when you have no idea what they are.. IE: What if you cannot meet their care requirements, Or in the worst case it bites you hard.
    ..Just saying.

Take a look at the food requirements [Live and frozen], Suggested pH ["This species will not do well in acidic water."] & the suggested numbers to keep to prevent aggression issues [20+] at the link posted above.

My GF calls me insincere... I pretend to care.

Thanks, 850! This forum never lets me down.

I appreciate the warning, but I don't bring home anything unknown that isn't already in a planted community tank with the same and/or similar peaceful fish like I already have. You're probably right that it's a little risky, but at least this time I don't think I'll lose a finger!

I kid, of course. I really appreciate the help.
