Welcome to the forum
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

Nice to see you're getting the family involved. My family wants nothing to do with my hobby - well except request I buy fish THEY like.

My wife and I bought a 20 gallon to amuse our son when he was two. He is 4 now and all three of us have turned into fish addicts.
We go to the LFS almost weekly to check out the new stock and plants, get our water tested. My son Charlie runs around like he owns the place.
It's a great hobby for the whole family! Charlie recently helped me set up his own Betta tank. He picked out the substrate and poured it in himself. He was quite proud. He named his male Betta "Mary Poppins"Livestreaming my 220 Gallon Aquarium
