I'm not sure people are getting ruder and less considerate as time goes on...we all think this as we age, in fact, every generation seems to think this as they get older. I've started doing it myself! We remember things differently and context changes.

Yes, some things get worse, but a lot of things get better.

If everything really was getting worse (generation after generation) then we'd all be raping and pillaging 24 hours a day. What a ghastly thought.

    Just trying to be positive

People who hunt just for sport piss me off. Many of them also have no need to hunt in order to supplement their food source. BUT... if you are going to hunt anyway, do not waste the meat.

I understand the need for culling, especially with the decline in natural predators around human inhabited areas... but people should still be responsible

I totaly agree with you Aeonflame it's real sport to be able to shoot the deer from 600 yards, thats why I respect bowhunters and strangely they always keep and eat the meat.

People are nuts Rue, I remember years back "hunters" came to the big ranch my Dad was foreman at and killed three calves, mortaly wounded another, skinned the calves and tried to pass the them off as deer.

Granted, not quite THAT often ...

On a positive note, I was pleasantly surprised when we took a cross-country trip in 2009 and drove through the deep South. Every other word was "Yes, Maam", "Yes, Sir", respectful tone of voice, the whole works. It was quite nice.

Perhaps folks living in cramped quarters in a big city have no concept that so much land can belong to one person or one family. A little research on how rural folks live might have given them a clue.

I would suggest posting PRIVATE LAND, NO HUNTING signs and see if people obey them. Who knows -- they just might, once they become aware.

The shooting of calves on a private ranch is outrageous! Were those guys ever arrested?

They are not allowed to go on your land. Period. You have to post trespassing signs to add some teeth to it, however, or all they have to say is they did not realize they had crossed onto your land. Make sure you post signs next year.

For someone to take the head and leave the carcass was totally wasteful but if he didn't do it, when you must have another hunter out there, too?

Are you by chance bordering State Land? I didn't think you can hunt anywhere anymore without having a permit for State Land or the permission to hunt on private land with permission.

Yes the guys got cought! Turns out they didn't know how to dress the meat so they took it to a butcher shop 2hrs away and the owner didn't believe them(not deer meat, bullet holes) and turned them into the Sheriff. First time offense and all all they got was a hefty fine.

My grandfather used to hunt, but he used the meat if not the hide. Never hunted just for sport. Hunting just for sport has never made much sense to me. If you're going to go out and shoot something, at least make use of as much of it as possible rather than leaving it to rot.

I woulda called the cops and had the morons arrested or charged for trespassing and for being armed on private property. I don't know that would be possible, still, I would have made the call. If they took off, licence plate numbers work fine. Yes, a hassle but maybe the clowns would think in the future.
Life is tough, it's even tougher if your stupid.
