Acrylic Clear For Life lighting!
First off...hello. :) I'm new here. I'm Sean and I just bought a 15-s 15 gallon acrylic tank from Clear For Life. It came with a black light hood cover and a clear thingy that slides out from under it (obviously covers the tank). I bought it not knowing that the stupid thing doesn't come with a lighting fixture. I took the empty 30inch long cover to Home Depot and they were clueless about how to put in a light. I googled and researched, and it says to buy a Clear For Life 24" Retrofit fixture.
My question...The black cover is basically just a big trough looking thing but has only four small holes on one side of the cover--it also has 4 pinhead-sized holes along the side. How the heck do I mount a light in this thing? Are these holes for a retrofit fixture to just screw in? And how do I plug the light into an outlet? I'm super frustrated here--if anyone has a detailed explanation or pictures of theirs that's similar to this, I'd MUCH appreciate it! Looking forward to participating on here more! Thanks

How about pictures of yours first for those of us who are unfamiliar with the product?
It's always a good idea to show what you are talking about.

Here it is. It's just a long 30" black cover and the 4 holes are all that's on it. Except for the pinhead-sized holes that won't show up in the pictures.

You answered your own question, You just didn't follow through. :-P
Get the 30" version here, You will need bulbs also obviously. I suggest 6500K for a planted tank [If you are going that route].

Nor do I know what's in it.
4 holes/2 fitures = I don't know --> Do the math on how wide it is and see how many fit?
A plug [Assuming that's what you meant] doesn't go through the holes, It's the other end of the wire that goes through.
You sound like you may not be a hands on technical type person, You may be better off simply shopping for a 30" fixture and not using that black cover at all.

Anyone have this tank? It's Clear For Life--I can't discard the cover because without it, there is a big 12 inch hole in the top of the tank. For now, I just have the cover on it, but I need the light IN it.

It's your canopy you need to buy the light fixture for it. I don't have this tank but, a simple search on google is all it takes:

Look where it says:Note: Canopy / Light Hood does not include electrical components.><((((º> ><((((º> ><((((º> ><((((º>

Yes, I have googled it. My question is if anyone has this tank and how it works? At Home Depot they were saying I'd have to super glue or velcro the light in place, but I feel like with this $100 tank, they'd make the canopy lighting a little more...easy. I have found nothing that says how to assemble it; just "buy the retrofit kit" but I don't want to drop $55 to find I have to buy something ELSE to make it work!
