Ammonia was zero on the strip and the combo quick test shows same as usu param, no nitrates water is very soft here, have had running like this at least 5 months minus the 1 black widow and lg koi added weeks ago... No aggression issues at all, had beta for 3 years put him in while cycling then added 3 angels and goldfish, they were together at fish store, my son wanted all... Slowly grew from there over a month or 2....

One way or another the number of fish in your tank IS going to decrease, I promise you that.
How that happens is up to you.
0 ammonia eh? When was your last WC and what % did you change.
Pictures would be really helpful here to see the size of the angels + we love pictures.Last edited by Goes to 11!; 11-17-2012 at 04:34 AM.

Just to get this straight. You have no aggression between the betta and gourami, or the 5 angelfish, you only change water every two weeks on a severely overstocked tank and there is no nitrates showing, and the fish store keeps goldfish and angels in the same tanks?
Have you changed any water yet to see if it helps with the irregular swimming? If it's called tourist season why can't I shoot them?
Brutal honesty will be shown on this screen.
I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
Tolerance is a great thing to have, so is the ability to shut up.

Ok: TH 0 ppm
NO3 less than 20
NO2 0
ph 6.5
Alk 0
after 25% water chg dechlorinator only added
Ammonia 0
The ammonia is sep strip, ph is same on strip and on API liquid ph tester.
Status: tank a little cloudy, but fish settling down and swam to glass when I approached(normal behavior very social group)
Stock: 1 blue gourami dwarf
1 betta
1 fancy goldfish
1 black widow tetra
5 neon tetras
2 smallish angel fish
2 med angel fish
1 large Koi angel fish
1 pleco
All in a 30 gallon,
20 gallon established tank that has only a bristle nose
I see I know nothing as compared to you but I am serious about my fish, but can't get a larger tank right now, please take me serious and help me figure out how not to kill my fish. My son started this but I have become very attached!!!! Not sure how to post a pic but may try...
Thank for any and all options

I am taking you seriously, Please return the favor
It's very very simple. All those fish will not fit in that tank.
The Koi goes.
You can keep AN angel OR the gourami. Not both and not more than one angel. The betta can be kept with neither in a 30g tank.
The BW tetra needs a school of at least 6 buddies so either get rid of it or stock it in a proper school.
FYI, Angels eat neons in the wild.
Is your pleco a "common Pleco" like they sell at petsmart? They get too large for your tank.

Ok, judging from your last post the 25% water changed helped, but because of the over stocking in the tank, it won't last. I suggest a 50% water change daily until you can deal with the stocking.
I would start by moving the betta and neons over to the 20g, but watch the parameters carefully since adding fish might cause a mini-cycle.
A 30g is only big enough for 1 angelfish, or depending on what type, one fancy goldfish, so you need to decide what to do there.
Black widow tetra are schooling fish and need larger groups to thrive and you definitely can't or shouldn't add more fish to this tank.
What sort of pleco is in the 30g, many grow too large for this size tank.
I understand your son wants all the fish, but it might be a better experience for him if you rehomed most of them so they could live a healthy life.If it's called tourist season why can't I shoot them?

ok, pleco, not sure about. All these fish came from a fish store that is soley fish, they were sold knowing what tank they were going and how big, so forgive me if I am shocked at whay your saying about being THAT over stocked. When the angel dies In immediatly thought ammonia from too many fish... but i had no idea that many too many...
They are settled down, so keep water changing even though they are not used to that stress that often? I dont know how to do this keeping them all alive and without breaking my sons heart. We had a great deal of fish death when we started a couple of years ago. Thanks Petsmart.... long story... but since we have been using this fish store that seems very knowledgable. the black widow is the only fish that survived from Pet smart. Bought July 2011; he had a few friends, but they were part of the deaths and he has been with Tulip and blue gourmie since september 2011. They are their own school. Since adding angels, they have all schooled and stay together, even tulip who herself who is probably about the size of the rim of a 8 oz glass give or take, and the smallest is about the size of a quarter or maybe a bit bigger.
Now the goldfish has gotten HUGE... he was in the tank at fish store with all the angels so we bought him too...
Here is "Slimey" the plecko
