Why does my Cory freak out?

I have two Julli Cory Cats(Shaye and Akram) and they are healthy and happy. Sometimes when they see me though, they freeze in place and then start moving when I leave. Also, Akrams gills are a bit red, and sometimes they both go INSANE and swim everywhere in my tank, like all over top and middle.

Cories are schooling fish. They feel safer in larger numbers. I think this is the cause of their timidness

I would defintitely have at least 3 or 4 of them if you don't already. Also , somewhere for them to hide is crucial. What i did is went to a local fish store and found some driftwood that was shaped so that when i positioned it, it made a natural cave. Also, is the tank in a high traffic area? If so, I would try to move it to somewhere it is out of the way but you could still enjoy it's glory
