No problem, it is definately a learning experience for me.....

#1 Ensure my post dont come across as sarcastic

#2 The 25% water changes I have been doing are not good enough
55 Gallon community tank that is probably a bit overstocked....dont judge me

    Thumbs up

    Silver lining!

Meh, Text communication is easy to misconstrue & besides... I really should know better than to post while on hold with the insurance company. The music alone is nearly suicide inducing :-P.

So...regular 75% water changes won't stress out the fish? I've never done more than 50%, and they always act panicked.
15 gal: 4 mollies, 1 platy, 1 neon tetra, trumpet snails, pond snails.
20 gal: 20+ various molly and platy fry, pond snails.
55 gal: Planted. No fish yet.

I would venture so far as to say that they aren't panicked, just very active. I notice a lot of activity in my Malawi setups after large wc's. Breeding behavior, aggression, random bursts of speed. I assume they're just excited in an energetic way due to the change.
Finally reached 6 tanks... oh god, this addiction is getting serious. 75g mbuna tank, 65g gold severum, 55g OB peacock breeding colony, 30g(36x18) growout, 20 long Dwarf Alto's, 10g fry tank.
If I die young bury me in... An 8x2x2 with versa tops and a large sump for adequate filtration;)

The only ways you will stress fish with a major water change are if there is a notable temperature difference, a ph difference, or you chuck the water in with a fire hose

I try to do twice weekly water changes of at least 30%. The reason for this is because I have aquasoil that acidifies (and softens) the water somewhat to around 6.5 pH. The water from my tap is 7.5 pH and hard, so to avoid dramatic swings I do more frequent water changes to keep things as stable as possible.
