    Exclamation Windows 8 - Warning

    0 Not allowed!
Just a quick warning based on what happened to my son. Installed Windows 8 on his Labtop, Quad core, 6G ram, 1G video, 1 Terra HD and nothing but blue screens. Just a suggestion, wait a bit and let them de-bug it. I'm thrilled with Win7 and won't be changing anytime soon...
Life is tough, it's even tougher if your stupid.
If your not angry, your not paying attention...

Windows 8 are for folks who have a touchscreen. If you don't have one, it is a waste of money.

Windows 8 targets touch screen laptops and Windows 8 RT is for mobile devices with ARM based processors like tablets and other devices. And yes, I agree windows 8 is a waste of money for Intel or AMD 32 and 64 bit processors and operating systems. Microsoft is trying to capture market share in the mobile device market. Microsoft entered the hardware market with their Surface tablet\laptop whatever it is.

Went to a microcenter a week ago to buy a few things. Had a chance to try out win8. It seemed ok, but will take a while for people to figure out. For most probably more trouble than it's worth. I don't know about other people but I hate smudges and fingermarks on the screen, a touchscreen would drive me nuts. The friend I went with said they had just upgraded some of the systems in his office to windows vista last year, most are still running win xp. For them it just wasn't worth updating all their computer hardware to get the newest version of windows. I won't be getting win8 myself. I use freebsd on my desktop computer, my laptop has vista, that's good enough for me, does what I need it to.

Korith,...I'm surprised they even went to vista rather than straight to Windows 7.

I was thinking the same thing...

The local computer gurus on the local radio were also warning people away from Windows 8 unless they were getting the new Microsoft tablet (Surface)...

I'm not really sure why either. I'm guessing they probably had probably bought a volume license for vista in the past, and had spare keys to use still. Businesses can often buy licenses for multiple copies usually a large number at a cheaper rate than we can buy individually.
