Sick looking croaking gouramis

PLease help!!!

I have two croaking gouramis and one of them seems to have a build up, almost like a scab on a few parts of his body? any ideas what this could be and what i can do to help??

Without a picture, I'm guessing that you have two males, and they're probably beating each other up. The one with the scab looking things is the one that's losing.

Can you tell us about the tank a little? How big it is, how it's set up, water perameters, other tank mates?

Its a 200 Liter tank with

10 koolie loaches
1 peacock eel
1 bristlenose
1 rhino whiptail
8 neons
2 golden panchax
6 zebra danios
5 peppered corries


The tanks pretty heavily planted. I could always move him to another tank and see how he goes?

If you have a QT or hospital tank to put him in for time being, that would be good. At least we'll be able to take a good look at him and see if we can't work out what's going on. I wouldn't put him in another tank, with fishes in it just yet though, just in case those scabby looking things are something nasty.

Thanks for that, i have moved him into my little hospital floater, i tired to get good pics but had no luck so hopefully you can see from these ones. any ideas?

He looks like he's been getting the snot beat out of him. Not surprised with no better than gourami's get long. I would also watch that lump on his face. That just might end up being an anchor worm.

Yeah, it sure looks like he's been taking a fair beating. It might be time to relocate one of the gourami's. They can be so difficult to get along with!

poor little guy, thanks for the help! The other Gourami keeps going up to the floater and watching him, at first i thought maybe they didnt like being seperated but now i think hes waiting to beat him up some more!

I can move the injured gourami into my other tank do you know how they would get along with-

2 Blue rams
5 cherrybarbs
10 mosquito rasboro
5 clown kilifish
5 peppered catfish?

Hard telling but he "might" be OK there but I would wait a bit to see what that lump turns into before putting him anywhere else. If this is an anchor, you don't want him in another tank now either.

+1 - I wouldn't be rushing to put him into another tank with different fish so fast - keeping him in clean water to heal up is important first.
