Any point in planting?

I am slowly preparing a tank for two Convicts once they are mature enough. I love the look of a planted tank, but I know from watching their parents that they destroy their tank daily, is there any point in doing a moderatly planted tank and letting it grow in before the fish arrive? I don't want to waste any money if they're just going to destroy the plants.

You could always do a bunch of floating plants. some people even Superglue plants to driftwood and rocks.

Personally I wouldn't waste the money, my Cons dig even when they are not breeding so it all depends on the Cons personality of your fish but knowing MOST Cons I wouldn't waste the money on it

You can attach java fern and anubias to driftwood and have floating plants. They can not dig up what isn't planted. That how I keep my blood parrot tank.

I hope you are not putting these convicts in with your parrots?

Lady Hobbs in an earlier post of his I think the OP mentioned something about just putting the Cons in a 20 Gal of their own, but I agree floating plants could workout a lot better because you truly can't mess up plants that aren't planted at all

I agree with tieing plants to driftwood. You can create a stunning aquascape with varieties of anubias and java fern planted in this way.

I read somewhere where superglue was ok to use for holding down plants but I wussed out and went with using fishing line instead.
