    Cloudfare have started to offer free open DNS servers built for speed. I just traid them and they do increase my browsing speed compared to the google open dns. (do not get me started on the ISP:s crappy dns servers).

    I think it can be worth for others to try switching over and see if it increase your browsing speed as well. (ie allow you to connect to sites faster). If it doesn't help it is easy to switch back.

    The new dns servers are located on 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1

    I like this info. Been out of the tech scene by choice a few years now... A while back I had to ditch off on some of my out dated knowledge and go with standard stuff... I'll be checking it out!

    LOL, I have NO idea what you're talking about. I just know that since I switched to satellite from dial-up, my internet is a little bit faster. I chose the basic and least expensive package, because I don't do that much online. I'm satisfied -- not going to try to enter mysterious territory where I wouldn't have the foggiest idea what I'm doing. You high-techies, have fun.

    @mermaidwannabe
    Basically this, When you write an url in your browser or click on a link, then the computer need to find out where that website is located. The domain name is not the location but each domain name correspond with a IP number. That IP number is the location of the site. A dns server is what tells your computer on which IP it should look for a certain site. But not all dns servers are the same. Some are faster then other and if you set your computer to use one of those then you browse the internet faster.

    The new dns server that i recommend trying above is very fast and can therefore improve the browsing speed for most internet users

    Thanks, William. Even I can understand that. I assume that utilizing this is an optional choice for us? You're recommending it, but for those of us who are happy with what we have, we will still be able to access AC whether we choose it or not? It's just for those who want a faster internet. Right?

    Right. It takes 10 secs to change if you want to but it is nothing you need to do, nor anything i want you to do. It is just a recommendation that helped me increase my internet speed a little

    Sorry not techie either, but does this apply to the site or to our computer capabilities? If the computer, how would one go about changing it?

    It has to do with how fast your computer can located and start loading websites. All websites, not just this one.

    If you use windows 10 then you can use this guide https://www.windowscentral.com/how-c...ngs-windows-10
    use IP 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 instead of the Google Public DNS addresses: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 that is used in the guide. Although if you are using your ISP DNS servers now then the google ones are likely to be an improvement as well.
