If the current filter is the Silentstream that comes with those aquarium starter kits I would definitely get rid of it and throw two other filters on there. Those Silentstreams have an awful track record of dumping water outside of tanks as well as overheating/melting. I don’t even know why Top Fin is still allowed to distribute such a hazardous product...

    Agree ^
It is also my preference to run more than a single filter on a tank, for a couple of reasons.

That is horrendous! Thanks for spreading the warning to others.

Nice choice. I hope you love the new look! You will still achieve a reduction in equipment while sustaining good filtration and an increase in water movement. Wins, all around.

I look forward to hearing about how you and your fish like the swap.

You should be happy with the AC70's.

But should you have any problems with them, a really nice alternative is the Seachem Tidal filters. They have a Tidal 55, 75 and 110. I've already replaced a couple of AC filters with these and find them to be a step or two above the AC's in quality and performance. However, I still have a few older AC's running well and as long as they continue to perform, I can't see spending extra money just yet to replace these.

How did they show themselves in practice? Do they work well?

to be honest I never saw one in person when I recieved it I had to move my tank further from the wall due to the deeper media bin taking more room but I thought it would be wider i guess i should have gone with the AC 110 but then again i wouldnt want to move my tank further out if the 110 would be deeper. I kinda got lazy and so far only put one of the AC70s and still have the petsmart one on the right but I replaced the media with foam. I like the AC 70 so far. its louder then the petsmart one but not too bad.
