Default Astro's in the World Series

Congratulations to the Houston Astro's for getting to World Series for only the second time in the history of their franchise. When the new owner bought the team a few years back, he totally tore the team down and basically started from scratch posting terrible records like this:

    2011 56-106
    2112 55-107
    2013 51-111

It's always bad to lose 100 games in a season but that many in three years is terrible. In 2015 their young talent started to gel and they hired AJ Hinch as their manager, they made the play-offs that same year but lost in the AL championship game. Last year they had a lot of injuries but finished with a winning record, this year they won 100+ games and last night night beat the hated Yankees ( at least for me ;-)) to meet my Dodgers, here's hoping it's a great series but not to good for the Astro's, although I'm sorta rooting for them, I always liked those "sherbet uniforms" from 70's and early 80's ;-)

Steeler, I don't believe the Astros are any match for the Dodgers.
They'll get beat by the Dodgers pitching (starters combined with bull pen) and power at the plate.

I don't know, the Astro's can hit the long ball with the best, it should be a good series..........on paper at least ;-)

I don't keep up with MLB, but for obvious reasons the Astros fever is picking up around here a bit...

I like series like these the best. Neither team having won one for a long time. The Dodgers are the clear favorite in my mind but the Astros won a couple games this year too. Those 2-1 and 3-1 games can come down to one timely hit or a defensive error. Or one player hits out of his mind for the series. You just never know. Baseball is about the least predictable outcome of the major sports. If it wasn't you'd have teams going 142-20 in the regular season. A similar winning percentage to the NFL leaders some years.

Yeah, you're right ..... but.... it may be the only game they'll win.

Unless he pitches game 5 and 7 as well. Ok that was a stretch but that dude can pitch some serious innings. Keuchel isn't exactly a bum either although he isn't nearly as unhittable as he was in the past. Looking forward to the series very much. We'll see if the Stros can hit the LA relievers. Hasn't happened lately.

I'm also very much looking forward to this series.

Haven't been to an Astros game in about a decade. Before kids, I managed to drag my brother to some games (he went for the beer, he told me), my dad to some (he genuinely enjoys the game), and my husband and I attended several. Ballparks are an adventure, in themselves!

They absolutely are for their uniqueness. I've done weirdo stuff like driven to them midwinter and had lunch across the street, longing for the home opener. One of the few sports where the field is not standard and you can build a team to give you an advantage. My Twins won a few rings getting the right players for that handball court they called the Metrodome. Great American Ballpark where the Reds play is a really, really fun offensive venue, though the panhandlers are thick during your walk from the lot. Loved old Comiskey, site of the gambling event that almost destroyed this game. New Comiskey, now Cellullar is nice. It is straight up in the southside of Chicago hood and they bulldozed a large radius to make it safe again. Wrigley, and surrounding Wrigleyville is just plain awesome. Cubs fans are obnoxious IMO but they sure paid their dues. Happy they finally won it. One of the few older places in Chicago where I feel safe with my family walking in the dark.

In the early 90s my sister's Bro-inlaw got called up by the angels for four seasons in the big leagues. Free tickets anywhere I could drive to when they came to town. Hanging out in hotel lounges with some pretty famous players was memorable He didn't have the physical abilities to ever be a star but he is the current pitching coach for the Diamondbacks, the Devil Rays with Joe Maddon before that. D-backs had a pretty respectable run this year. Very proud of him. The Angels basically fired him last year and he had a new job in a week. I'm proud of his resilience if that's not obvious.

Sorry for the ramble. MLB is my favorite sport, and I think they have more history than most any sport out there. When does the game start? :)
