Whoo Whoo! We've got Convict fry!
So excited!
We are all enjoying watching the parents take turns watching the fry...and watching mommy suck up the wriggly ones and spit them back into hiding.
We've already set a separate tank for the other four convicts...they are sooooo happy for the room to swim and play!
Looking forward to watching the fry grow! Thanks to everyone here that has contributed valuable information that had us ready and informed us how to proceed!
Beside four home-schooled kids-ages 11-17, we have:

Thanks, everyone!
We noticed them the evening after a water change, hence all but seven (if that many) were siphoned.
(sorry fishies!) Strange, though, that the mom/dad didn't attack the siphon. We noticed their extreme aggressiveness and I commented to her, "These two have definitely paired! Watch for eggs."
Minutes later, really, minutes later...I followed their repetitive behavior and that's how I spotted the eggs on a rock and hatching fry that she moved into the pot. Daddy ate the eggs off the rock (they were solid white) and has resumed his vigilant watch with mommy.
As of right now, she will be keeping these "seven". She mentioned checking in at the LFAquri. to see if they would take babies in the future, for store credit or food. A friend of our does this with his guppies. Otherwise, she said she would have to be diligent with her journal to know round-about the time they would mate.
We still have the empty QT that we will ready as a nursery. Then they will also go into an upgrade.
Almost every room on the second floor has some kind of tank! (We were just given a Betta by my sis-in-law! Her kitty loved the taste of his water!)
How do Bettas do in the bathroom?! Would make a beautiful addition to the vanity.

As long as they're in a filtered and heated tank, they don't know the bathroom from the garage.
