  1. Default New 60 gallon - stocking ?'s

I recently upgraded my 37 gallon to a 60 gallon - LOVE it! I moved the Aquaclear 70 and some of the gravel to the new tank, switched to a 300 watt heater and added another AC70. I used pretty much all of the water from the 37 because I have to use a water filter on my (very hard) well water, so that saved me some. Seemed to do the trick because I haven't lost a single fish. Parameters are all good (0 amm, 0 nitrites, 10 nitrates, ph 7.4). I have three big pieces of driftwood and did half plastic, half live plants.

Currently I have one angel, one krib, one blue ram, one dwarf gourami, three peppered cories, three panda cories, one oto, five harlies, four rummynose tetras and one roseline shark (lfs only had one left).

I'd like to add to the rummynoses and the roselines. How many is too many? Unless there's another medium-sized fish you'd recommend instead. Thanks for any and all advice!

I would try to get the harleys and the rummynose upto 8 or ten each. I don't have any experience with the roselines, so I can't help you there.

This is what I found googling the roseline shark:

+1 with above poster about increasing the rummynose tetras - a school is generally considered 6 or more.
46 gal fw tank with black skirt tetras, neon tetras, spotted cory catfish, cherry barbs, guppies, snails & 4 amano shrimp - plastic & live plants
5 gal QT with green corys & 2 guppies

Your gonna need to up the numbers on your roseline they are a schooling fish as well. Your best bet is to return them since they get to about 6 inches. And I know in my area they cost about 10-13$ each so a school will be pricey lol. Also they prefer cooler waters between 59-79 degrees. And they prefer a high flow in the tank and there very susceptible to any disease or parasite in your tank. And water quality is of the utmost importance to them.

don't forget to up the number of corys. though i would suggest just going with one specie, just panda or just peppered.

And I almost forgot the roseline or redline torpedo barb whatever you like to call them are highly skilled jumpers so make sure you have a tight lid on that tank.

It's funny you say that because he was in the tank next to the one he was supposed to be in at the lfs. And yes, they are pricey. Where I am I've seen them as high as $26(!). I paid $14 for this one. I'm hoping they get some more in and will maybe sell me a few at a discount.

Definitely adding to the rummynose - LOVE how tight they school! And you don't have to tell me twice to add more cories - love them too!

I have been posting this a lot lately but since it came up again, Please read Posts 5 & 6 here for some relevant info about your schooling tetras.

What temp are you keeping your tank at because looking at your stock it seems like an optimal temp is at the very high end of the corys range and the very low end of the rams range. Living on the edge is stressful and can have consequences and that's something to consider.

Well if you have a petco check them out. Mine sells them for 13.99$ but they will put them on sale for 10$. And don't forget they like the cooler water so you should look into that compared to your current stock. Not to mention a decent school will run you about 80-100$ and full grown is 6 inches. That's a BIG school lol.

Thanks for the info on the schooling fish - makes sense. Hopefully once they get used to the new location of the tank, they'll be happier. Won't be as pretty to watch, but it's more important that they're comfortable.

    As for temp - it's at 77*.
