Purple Cabomba Questions (Picks)

I have zero experience with plants. I recently got some purple cabomba from my lfs (two weeks ago). It has grown a lot so I'm assuming it is doing okay. The problem is that they are bending from the current of my hang on back filters. Does anyone know how to eliminate this? Does everything look okay?

When it grows too tall it will likely break off at the waterline. The broken bits can be replanted. This is how it propagates naturally in the wild. Cabomba responds visibly to light through its growth. Lower light levels will create larger gaps in the stems, sparser and taller growth while high light will cause it to grow shorter and bushier.

That plant is meant to sway in the current, it looks pretty healthy. If it is happy it could fill your tank rather quickly.

I would like it to eventually fill up the entire background but I'm not sure how to do it when they bend so easily in the filters down-current. Any ideas on how to lessen the water current that comes out of the filter? Or maybe disperse it along the top of the water instead of straight down on the plant? I have two AquaClear filters, a 70 and a 30, both are turned down to the lowest setting.
