barracuda feeding time
why wont my freshwater barracuda eat? what is the best day to day food for them, except feeder fish? iv tried fresh prawns ect, there very hard to feed and very skittish? any help and ideas would be extremely appreciated!
60 gal community: 6clown loaches, 20 tiger barbs, 4bala/1 red tail sharks, 1 common plec.
70gal predator tank: 4 freshwater barracuda, 1 checkerboard snakehead, 1 common plec
more tanks..... the better

Tough call, My understanding is it is very difficult to get them to eat anything other than live food.
Also, Your tank may be far too small for them depending on the variety you have. Do you have their latin name?

how long have you had them?
300 gallon mega tank: build in progress
75 gallon community tank: tetras, danios, corys, platies, otos, pearl gouramis, bristlenose pleco, assassin snails, red cherry shrimp, bamboo shrimp
70 gallon growout tank: clown loaches, sailfin pleco
60 gallon goldfish tank: fancy goldfish
29 gallon frog tank / 10 gallon tadpole tank: 1 leopard frog, 1 tadpole
10 gallon and 5.5 gallon betta tanks: 1 male betta each, sometimes snails

i think its Ctenolucius hujeta. they look lost in my tank, there about 5" i think there are acustom to live fish, danios especialy, thats what they were feeding them in the shop i think. iv had them 2 days, i know what they eat, i just they only seem interested in live bait

hejuta gar need live foods. you can try bite-sized frozen shrimp and such after the gar has been fattened up and very comfortable in your tank.

as i suspected, could get costly. wil have to mass produce guppies. does any one think a brine shrimp hatchery would be a good idea for a steady suppy of food?

I'm not sure brine shrimp would keep them full. maybe start breeding guppies or other live feeder fish?

yeah sounds like a plan, just put some dried shrimp in and wiggled if about to represent a fish. didnt do anything. guppie time

Rocket pike characin's,can be cannabalistic on slightly smaller relatives.My Hejuta gar eats chopped table shrimp and hikari floating cichlid pellets.It has maxed out size wise at 10 inches,and I have had it four years.

succsess! being starving them and introducing otherfoods, frozen, dried ect. but i bought some hikari floating carnivor sticks, within 2 days they are slowly takin to them, i break them in half so they can swollow them easliy. by xmass they shud be fully on them. thanks for the help guys
