Default Fluval Edge 6g for Red Cherry Shrimp?

So, I've been wanting RCS in my tank, but I'm not sure I can with my current stocking ideas. Sooo...what if I got one of these for some plants, maybe a small school of tetras, and some Red Cherry Shrimp?

And of course, I forget to add the link! Here it is: http://www.petco.com/product/117230/...-in-White.aspx

It would work, why not just get shrimp and plants. They do best by themselves. Just a thought but a plain old ten gallon with lights, filter and heater should be well less than 75 dollars.

Very true. I like the look of this tank though. I like that it doesn't have a black rim or anything. It's more streamlined or something.

IMO I would never use one of those, too much of a pain. I concur with rich, just go with a ten. You already have a HOB filter.

As the owner of a fluval edge shrimp tank - I have to say Reds assessment in dead on.

Its a total PITA to plant, Scape & Maintain due to the limited access through the top. I also found the stock lighting really lacking for plants and had to refit it to LEDs.

I love the asthetics but I would take a 10G [or 5g] to work on any day of the week. I only bought mine off CL for the two EHEIMS that came with it . YMMV
    Gas mileage isn't everything OIIIIIIIO
Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.
Why pretend there are no stupid questions? Actually, There are many stupid questions: "Should I drink this bleach?" Is just one example.
Having said that, Just because it's a stupid question doesn't mean that it shouldn't be asked. It's better to know.

A warm beer is better than a cold beer. Because nothing is better than a cold beer, and a warm beer is better than nothing.

I agree with Rich. To really enjoy them and not worry about then getting eaten all the time, they need to be in a species only tank. The Fluval Edge tanks are over priced and you loose the fuctionality that you would have with a plain old 10 gallon.

    DON'T DO IT ELLEN.....ummm..please?
When in doubt, do a water change.

Should work fine. I had a fluval edge but traded it away, it had a nice look to it, but cleaning it was a pain. Also if you ever have to net out any fish/shrimp it can be a challenge. I didn't want to ante up $ for one of those triangle shaped nets fluval sells, so I bent a normal net into that shape. I think petsmart had the some fluval accessories on clearance.

lol I'm not going to get one. :p

I wasn't planning on running out to get one now anyway - it would have to require some saving!! But, I was toying with the idea. I'm still not sure what I want the stock in my 30g to be yet, but I'm pondering a few ideas. Any suggestions? I'm going crazy trying to decide! (Not that it's time to get the fish - my tank is still in my bathtub right now. It's empty, but not set up yet. I just like to have my ducks in a row.)

For your 30g how about some harlequin Rasboras? I am waiting on them to go on sale and then i am going to get at least 10 for my 29g. At petsmart they are $2 normally. (I am waiting for them to be on sale at $1, Yes I am cheep )
Lots of tanks. Some tanks are planted. Fish include community and bettas.
2 Dachshunds. Angel (Red) and Cookie (Chocolate Dapple).
Shiny Things and Beauty the rabbits.
