Default Thinking of buying another 29 gallon setup

We were planning on turning our sump into a place to propagate anemone's, but then a member of our local reef club offered us a 29 gallon setup. It includes tank, stand, tunze nano skimmer, sunlight supply 250watt halide with ballast and he will throw in some live rock. He's asking $275 but then told us to make an offer.

What do you think the setup is worth? I was thinking $250 if the bulb is fairly new and $225 if it needs to be replaced. We won't be able to buy it til the end of august but he said he will hold it for us.

Were going to make it as an anenome grow out tank until their large enough to sell. It won't be a reef and it will run for 4-5 months with just live rock, CUC, and possibly a pair of black o-clowns or something and we will not use the halide until we start adding nems.

What are your thoughts? Thank you for any input

Go for it. The whole setup is probably worth more then the $275 that he is asking for, so it will be a steal for you no matter what. Great plans for the tank too.
Stock the tank you have, not the tank you plan to have. Always have and use patience.

The lighting was worth atleast the $225-250 new... not to mention all the other stuff, if he'll part with it for that jump on it

Thank you. I'm going to get it. I offered him $250. Here's what he wrote about the bulbs. I also asked for some pics

"I've had the light just over a year. Its the lumenmax 3 hqi reflector with the galaxy electronic ballast. The current bulb is only about a month old at this point and I'll also include a month old 10k xm bulb. Everything is in great condition. I also have some live rock that's in the tank right now that you are welcome to if you want it. Its covered in zenia, mushrooms, star polpys, and some ugly feather dusters. You would be better off just scrubbing the rock before using it but live rock is live rock. "

    That's a great deal!

The reflector alone is about $150, the ballast is also aroung $150, so just the lighting, new, is worth that. Plus the cost of the bulbs, which for the XM is around $80. And anywhere from $50-$90 for the other one.

It also contains 1 powerhead, heater, and live sand. He said once we pay half he's going to let us take it and just pay him the other half later I'm selling an old tank and stand this weekend which will give us $50
