Plumbling for Dummies
After messing up my trash disposal twice with small stones (actually about 6 times but I fixed it myself 4 times) and having to have my landlord come and give me dirty looks and repair it, today I have the tub lines clogged with sand and it won't drain. He is sooooo gonna love me now.
I had sand and gravel mixed and wanted the sand gone so to the tub I go with my strainer and was rinsing it with my phyton. Smart! He is going to be so ticked off at me. I will just have to plead insanity!Cycling With Fish?•• The Fishless Cycle••

What's second plumber? I forced water down, plunged the thing for an hour, removed the over-flow and dumped water down that way........nuttin' honey.

Get a drain snake and run through it. Always works for me.

Can't. Can't even get a coat hanger down there. It has to be taken apart at the goose neck with is behind a locked door in the hallway.....and the head honcho has the key. (I live in an apartment, remember)

one second plumber uses pressure and some chemical or something to unclog sinks and tubs, works on tough clogs too

I've also heard of using an empty 2 liter soda bottle to shoot a pressurized blast of air through clogs. The "one second plunber" looks like it does the same thing, likely just a pressurized can of something-or-other with a wider opening than usual.

If you really don't want to call your landlord, you might run to the hardware store and pick up a plumber's auger. The cheap one's don't cost that much. If the clog isn't anymore than 20 feet down the drain, you should be able to pick one up for about $10 - 15. Anyway, the end of that has a much larger surface area than a coat hanger. You can also spin it around quite fast to help power through that sand. I think that would be your best bet at getting that sand out of there.
