Don't they come with the 2217? I guess some call them "stand-offs":

There's endless variations on the stocking of this filter. The drawing above is a good general load. Important to know is that the water enters at the bottom so you want some kind of particle filter there. It exits at the top so top off your load with some filterfloss.

Yeah, I know of those [& use them in my 2217s] but the OP has one listed in the middle of the filter [As opposed to on the ends] ... To what end?
Just seems like wasted space to me :-/.
Gas mileage isn't everything OIIIIIIIO
Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.
Why pretend there are no stupid questions? Actually, There are many stupid questions: "Should I drink this bleach?" Is just one example.
Having said that, Just because it's a stupid question doesn't mean that it shouldn't be asked. It's better to know.
A warm beer is better than a cold beer. Because nothing is better than a cold beer, and a warm beer is better than nothing.

Ah! Great idea!
I'll be sure to do that. And yes, I'm talking about the stove-like green things.
And also, do you recommend EHEIM Substrat Pro?
