Female betta with Pearl Gourami/Apisogramma?
0
I was looking for a smallish blue coloured fish and figured a female betta might fit the bill, however would one get along with a Pearl Gourami and an Apistogramma Cichlid/Bolivian Ram? (havent decided which to go for yet). I also have Black Widow tetras and plan to have some 5 banded barbs too.
27 Gallon planted: Super Dragon Betta, Neon Tetras, Honey Gourami, Rummy Nose Tetra, Checker barbs, Bolivian Ram, Otocinclus, Amano shrimp, Assassin snails.
75 Gallon Reef: Ocellaris Clownfish pair, Firefish, Royal Gramma, Bangaii Cardinal, Midas Blenny, Coral Beauty Angelfish, Cleaner Shrimp, 18+ crabs and snails

It really depends on the female. Most females that I have ever had payed no mind to anyone else in the tank. If you do try it be sure to put many hiding places and plants to break up sight lines. Also be prepared to remove her if necessary.

I would not be worried about the pearl gourami, I would be worrying about the female betta(2 inches) being beaten up by its fellow anabantid the pearl gourami(4 inches).

Personally I've kept 2 species of appistogramma, and they are fiesty fish when they want to be. My agassizii was especially grumpy. I'd say it would pick on your betta.
My therapist says I need a bigger tank . . . . .
