Platy & Silver Hatchetfish
Has anyone been successful with Platies and Silver Hatchetfish in same tank? I've read they are not compatible. Does anyone have an idea why that may be?

They should do fine. The silver hatchet is the most hardy and undemanding of water parms of the hatchets.
Idealy hatchets like their water lower in pH and softer but as long as you aclimate them slowly they should be okay.Last edited by steeler1; 01-01-2013 at 04:51 AM.

Incompatible in terms of behavior or other? Platies prefer hard water while hatchetfish like soft water, but with farm bred fish that is not much of an issue. The only other thing I can think of why they might not be compatible is that both the hatchet and the platy frequent the surface of the tank and there might be some issues such as nipping by the platies, etc.
