Fish dying?

Not sure where to start on this...

Friend has a ~1 acre pond that has bass, perch and maybe some catfish left. However, the bass have started to die and float to the surface. With the current drought the deepest part of the pond is 5ft. Seems really odd that a lot of bass died all about the same size. No perch, minnows or anything else has died at this time. I thought maybe low oxygen level during the summer but its cooler weather now.

One thing my friend noticed is a slime like algae growing over the grass and good algae. Says he has never seen it before.

If the water level dropped a lot, that combined with the heat could have raised the temp of the pond high enough to stress the bass maybe ???.

I was thinking that and wanted to add oxygen to the pond. However, we have had cool weather for about month and half now so just seemed odd this time.

any chance it got a dose of fertilizer runoff or something? That could kill the fish and cause an algae bloom.

Hrm... I would not think so since we have not had rain.

Maybe well water with some suplher could do that?
