upgrading tank
I have a 29 gallon freshwater tank with platys and loaches in it that I want to upgrade to a 75 gallon tank. What would be the best way to integrate the fish into the new tank? I've read that I should take the gravel an filter media from the old tank to transfer to the new one, but I plan on having sand instead of gravel in my new tank.

When you have the 75 situated where you want it simply add ALL the stock of the 29 to it as well as the filter that was on the 29.
Simultaneously, Run the new filters you intend to run on the 75 as well.
You could also simply transfer the entire used filter media to the new filters, Either way works fine.

And when you add new fish, stock "slowly". Only a few every couple of week so you can grow more bacteria after each new group.
