What do you mean with holiday feeder? the electronic devices or those
food blocks that look like a gypsum block?
Of you are talking about the blocks, choose otherwise. they are nasty and foul the water and the fish don't like them or eat up all at once and starve in the end or or or...
If you are talking about the machinery however, I would say it does not matter which type but you definitely should have it running for at least a few weeks to fine -tune the amount of food and to make sure it is 100% reliable.

I have the automatic fish feeder that is battery operated. I cant remember which kind it is but I got it from petsmart for about 30 dollars. (walmart has them too for cheaper). I used it when I was in Georgia for 2 weeks and came back all my fish were alive and well! It worked for me so I dont have anything bad to say about it.
The one I had fed the fish twice a day (every 12 hours) and you could adjust the amount that came out. I used it for my 20 gallon so if your fish tank is quite bigger I am not exactly sure how it would work for you..
Anyway hope this gives you an idea of how it works

I have used the Eheim brand of automatic feeder and it works great. You can set it to the time you want to feed your fish, also can adjust how much it drops.
Though if you are away for four weeks... I think it is better for you to just ask someone to come over and feed your fish at least once or twice a week. Because I am not sure if the food in the auto feeder would last that long.Da name's Paul. Not Dave. ROFL
