My Clever Sailfin Pleco
Here's a video that I took a few days ago of my smart Sailfin Pleco enjoying some tubifix worms. He really loves the stuff!
I gotta ask. Does anyone know how good their eyesight is? I'm wondering if he finds the cubes based solely on his sense of smell or if he can actually see it. Any idea?

Wow! I have seen my plecos eat meat before but I have never seen one go up to the top to grab a cube like that, that's really cool! Don't the science behind their eyesight but he must be seeing something to go up to the top light that. Beautiful fish too!

Om nom nom nom ^_^
Love the way he drifts backwards/upside-down once he gets the cube in his mouth ^_^
The probability of being watched is directly proportional to the stupidity of the act

Thanks guys! He's my favorite fish, he's definitely a nice looking pleco if I do say so myself! :)
It doesn't take him long to come out when I put the tubifix in. I normally press them up against the glass, but all the tugging pulls them off pretty quickly. It's neat to watch him work like this. :)

I've read articles that say plecos eyes are situated to look upward, ostensibly to look for enemies, and are virtually useless when trolling along the bottom looking for food. So they use other senses when trying to find that algae wafer you just threw in but yours may very well use eyesight to find a cube stuck to the glass at the top of the tank.
