The only people on here who have bred are Cliff with Bangaii Cardinals and I think Miltonic bred some clowns and tried raising the young.
From everything I've read it's extremely difficult to raise SW fish from their young stages, otherwise there would be a lot of captive bred SW fish on the market, but there isn't. It's just tough to do from everything I've read.
Do some google searches on a fish you'd be interested in breeding. I know clowns and cardinals are the easiest to do in the home aquarium so you might wanna start there
55g Long --> After 18mo of doing well the tank crashed during moving. Most likely cause: Flatworm Die-off... won't start another until after moving... Likely not until late 2013
20g Long --> currently concoting a build plan
Check out the journal to follow my 20g SW tank

Glad you are out to gain more knowledge! Best way!
Try this
If it was me I would... make a list of all the fish I would enjoy then rank them from most to least liked. Then research breeding for those fish/species and go down the list. Hopefully, it will help narrow down the list and would learn a lot more about their breeding needs.
If you do find species to breed you have to make a post and keep us updated. I would be very interested in your approach and success.
Edit: I did read clowns and cardinalfish are able to bred. I didn't know lion fish would breed to... hrmmmm got me thinking
