Sealant help

Hey guys, I got a tank for free, had a minor leak that I was told was simple to fix.

So I seals the edges and bottom, how ever there is one area in the back corner I can not get to due to the Das internal protein skimmer and filter. There is a 4" gap under the filter to the glass floor, with a piece of acrylic attached to the back of the filter for support, I sealed the edges of the filter and what I could get to.

The leak is still present but very minimal.

So I want to box it over so the filter becomes one solid column so no water can get to that corner. I want to use acrylic but can't attach it to glass, I want to use glass but can attach it to acrylic- any ideas?

I don't fully understand what you're attempting to do but I have successfully siliconed glass to acrylic. If you check out my tadpole tank journal (link in sig) you can see what I did. I had a lot of problems getting a complete seal but since then it's been holding water for a couple months without issue.

sorry if i was not clear,

the first picture shows this blue box(the internal filter) and a gap under. there is a leak under that box and i cant get my hands under there to create a great seal. so i want to make a box around the big blue area(the interanl filter) and seal it to the floor of the tank. im hoping that this will get rid of my leak... this tank was free so no harm in trashing it but i want to keep it. i was going to use .09 thickness acrylic or 3/32" thickness glass to do this. also it will be a box means plate on the bottom siliconed to the floor of the tank, the the two side pieces siliconed to that plate and then to the internal filter,

btw i can not remove this internal filter with out damaging it.

Your add in box is sitting on cleats too so that makes life even more complicated for you.

If it were me, I'd cut all the old work, scrape out all the old silicone on the inside, and reseal the whole thing.

Silicone sealant won't stick to old silicone. It won't stick - long term - to acrylic. So scrape it all out an use a good, aquarium grade silicone. The work involved isn't worth trying to get cheap on the silicone or do it over and over again.

i would do that in fact i have re sealed the tank except for that corner

what would be the best way to pull out the internal filter? its attached to the glass some how.

thanks for your input. i will be useing 1/4" glass to seal it and use a super glue gel to glue it to the acrylic and then seal it will silicone so its a double barrier.

i tried to take the internal filter off but i could not get a blade deep enough to cut the silicone seals.
