    Default holding maingano :)

3 days ago i noticed that on of my 2 female mainganos was holding! i was extremely excited, because this comes only a week or so after finding fry in the main tank. so i have cleaned out my 10 gallon and fitted it with a heater, a 20 gallon sponge filter, and a treasure chest decoration. no substrate. and added the mama maingano to the that tank to observe her and ensure that i get all my fry into my new fry tank safely. does anyone have any tips for me? this is my first experience with such things so im sure theres something im doing wrong.
    Coastie-to-be... hopefully.

Hi & congrats. If I were you I would take out the treasure chest and put a few rocks in there. The females will be much more comfortable with natural rock.

yeah good thought. ill have to buy some more though as all my natural rock is in my mbuna tank. but i will definitely do so:) ill probably just put 2-3 river rocks in there so i can still keep the bottom clean well enough.

oh! also i used tank water from my main tank to fill the new tank, was that the right thing to do?

I'd start watching craiglist for a good deal on a used 75 setup, move the mbuna into that, and use the 55 for a growout tank.

    ^^^^Please click the eggs/dragons, thanks.

it would be reallyyy hard for me to find room to put a new 75. the biggest i could get would be a 30 at this point.

Nice, are you going to strip them or just let them spit? If you can't fit a 75g, go for a 40 breeder.

im letting them spit. once i get more fry tanks (hopefully 3) i can actually keep all my fry but i think im gonna have to let a few broods go until then. and yeah i think im gonna end up sticking a 40 breeder in the corner of my room or something=\
    Coastie-to-be... hopefully.
