Hey ppl hows it going well im having an issue with my angels ? My female has been gravid for a couple of weeks now and it seems like shes ok.she eats good her poop is dark,her and the male have been cleaning different areas and the seem to be in spawning mode but shr will not lay her eggs I have tried pretty much everything waterchanges a slate and they did spawn 2 times before and I only saved couple dozen fry cause they are in a community tank 55 gallon but now they are pretty much alone in that tank and some guppies and still after days nothing is happening

Try better food, temperature drops (a few F), and VERY large water changes (like 75% or higher but hold pH constant.)

Well they did it lol they have spawned but I noticed there was some really white eggs that came out and the male was kinda clumsy about going over the eggs.but they are doing pretty good at keeping the lil algae eaters and the guppies away,i want to raise as many as possible should I set up a 5 gallon tank or should u let the parent raise them there looks to be a few hundred eggs

So yeah I got to go to work and wont be back till like 10 hrs I hope they keep fanning and keep the other fish away and mostlly dont eat them themselfs

If you want to breed angels, you should have a bare bottom tank just for them with no other fish with them. Either the babies should be removed or the parents back into a main tank. But angels spawn every couple of weeks.

You better get a few 40-55 gallon tanks for raising angels if that's what you want to do. Five gallons aren't going to work.

+1 - Meatier foods like blood worms would be IMO one of the better foods... also mysis shrimp are great.

Most professional breeders will take the eggs away from the parents and raise them in another tank. This is to eliminate the possibility of the parents eating the eggs or the fry. If you do this correctly you will have more fry survive in the long run, but it is also more work.

The separte tank needs to have an aerator near the eggs and there are several types of chemicals (methylene blue, Maroxy, etc.) that can be used to inhibit growth of fungus on the eggs.

A five gallon aquarium will work fine to hatch the eggs, but you should transfer the fry to a larger tank when they become free swimming and start to grow a bit.
