white specs floating in water

hi i am just wondering what these white specs are theres loads floating in my tropical fish tank the tank is 4 weeks old and if i turn my filter off they settle but as soon as the filters back on they will float all around the tank like its snowing im worried as to what this could be

That's a submersible with those white biomax nodes in it. Good filter by the way! Did you give the white biomax nodes a good rinse under the tap, before you put it in your tank?

no i didnt oppps could the white specs be comming from not washing the nodes it has been in there 4 weeks now i got it the same day as i got the tank

Yeah, it could be. Don't worry though, it's not a bad thing, it's just a bit annoying to look at. You can still give them a wash, Helen. I think they're in like a blue plastic cage looking thing, in between the two sponges aren't they? If that's right, just take that blue cage out, give the white nodes a good wash under the tap then put it back in the filter. Don't worry about that disturbing your cycle, all the good bacteria is in those sponges. Just keep the sponges wet with the tank water while you wash the nodes. Once you've done that, see if it makes any difference! If it hasn't made any difference, then it could possibly be lots and lots of little air bubbles.

ok i will do that i do have a few fish in the tank i thought it might start affecting them but sofar it hasnt i will rinse the nodes and see if it helps thank you for your help really appreciate it
