Zebra snail pooping sand!?

It looks like my snail is pooping sand.



Has this happened to anyone else before? The snail was just sitting there on the glass for a few days when I first got it, then I put sand in, turned on the light in the tank, and it started going around eating whatever off the sides, and now there is all this white stuff with a small strand of poop coming out behind the trap door. What is going on? There are about 10 3mm by 1mm yellowish/white tube sort of things just hanging around stuck there. Could it be that it was eating algae off the sides of the tank and there was still lots of sand dust stuck to the sides of the tank and it ate it as well and is pooping sand? Will this kill it? What do I doooooooo.

I looked at the sand poop or whatever it is with a magnifying glass and a flashlight and it looks kind of shiny and is the same colour as the sand in the tank, but the stuff closer to the poop is yellowish.
