  1. Default How hard to find are Dwarf Chain Loaches?

    Dwarf Chain Loach
    Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki

    LINK HERE

I've been reading about these little guys and they seem awesome! I really want a shoal of these for my 36 gallon tank.

What I can't seem to find is info on how readily available they are. Does anyone know if these are easy to get? Or are they relatively rare? I'm fairly sure I never saw them when I worked at an LFS, but that was about 6 years ago now.

Edit: I guess telling you where I'm located would help. I'm in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

You can order them here from liveaquaria allthough they use the name Botia sidthimunki

They can be hard to find in local stores.
Do as I say. Not as I do.

Please Note: We cannot ship any aquarium life to Hawaii, APO addresses, Post Office Boxes, Puerto Rico, other U.S. Territories, or other countries.

Looks like they don't ship to Canada, bah. Although at 20 bucks a loach I don't think I'd be able to get them anyway haha. That's more than I thought!!

My husband really wants these fish some day. We have never seen them in any fish shop we have gone too. Good luck finding some.

Liveaquaria.com is a great aquaria store. They have dwarf chain loaches and have great low fish prices.

Just wanted to comment on this thread again. I found these locally at a nice small (non-chain) LFS. I was so excited to see them, but they are still 20 bucks a fish. So still a no for me. BUT I am happy to know that if I have some financial windfall in the future (I can only dream) that they are possibly available without being shipped from somewhere! ^^

One of my local fish shops just got these in too. Here they are $10 each. We still want them some day....but to get them a proper group is a lot of money.

Man, I have been wanting loaches in my tank but didn't love how big they got. This seems like a perfect solution, but holy price tag Batman! I wonder if my LFS could order some in for me. I went in there yesterday (first time) and the staff seemed less than friendly.
