  1. Question Fluval C3 vs AquaClear 30

    0 Not allowed!
Which HOB filter for a 15 gal. planted tank?

    Fluval C3 [153gph] or AquaClear 30[150gph]?

I have used the AquaClears years ago and had good results.

Don`t know anything about the Fluval C series.

The Fluval C3 and media costs a little more, but not enough to made that much difference.

For a HOB I wouldn't go any direction other than an AC. They are, IMO, the absolute best.
    8 tanks running now:
    1x 220 gallon, 2x55 gallon, 1x40 gallon long, 1x29 gallon, 1x20 gallon long, 1x5.5 gallon, 1x2 gallon
Gouramis, barbs, rasboras, plecos, corys, tetras, fancy guppies, swordtails, ottos, rainbow shark, upside-down catfish, snails, and Max and Sparkles the bettas.

Go with the AC. I have 2 fluval C3 in my 16 gallon that are kind of noisey. Had 3 bad fluval c2. Got a refund on them and bought ac30 for my 4 gallon shrimp tank. Really quiet.

Got The ac 30 on sale at petsmart.

AC hands down favorite over my C3. I have both. AC wins the contest, though interesting enough, same impeller motor on both. I even have the C3 on my 16 gallon. It works and is easy to do maint on, but seems to require it more often than my AC20. And the AC tank has been the healthier of the two.

I would go with the AC as well just because it doesn't go inside the tank.
