Furry bulbs?
My lily pad bulbs have all looked like they were growing black fur. Is that like the roots? None of the others sprouted and this one is going to be my last attempt.
All my fish keep dying, but hers are fine.

Sounds like mold. I would get them out of the tank.

i had bulbs with a dark brown fuzz for about a week before, you might be thinking its blackish? if its not what i describe, yeah id throw it out, but i started with some cheap walmart bulbs, that wouldnt sink, so i linked some rubber bands (tiny ones) and hooked the bulb to a rock so that i didnt bury it and it wasnt floating too high from the bottom to get its roots in. in a day or two it had the brown fuzz all over it, i took em out the water to inspect, and the fuzz laid limp, put the bulb back in, and the bulb was inside of a brown fuzzy coat, probably half an inch long on average, like it was in an opaque brown ball. after about a week i noticed some sprouting and roots and everything you hope to see, the fuzz never became an issue for me and the dwarf lilys are all doing awesome. hope it helps!
