My SA/CA cichlids
Hello everyone! Still busier than a bee, but it's good to be back.
My 125 now has a festae, green terror, jaguar, and 2 severum (however I think I will be moving the severum into my 55 soon).
The other three have been successfully acclimated to each other for almost a year. I also had a dovii that I grew out, but she and the jaguar spawned and she went berserk on the other fish while guarding her eggs (even after the loaches ate most of them), so sadly we had to remove her :-( Luckily my spouse works at the LFS so he made sure she went to a good home.
Anyway, the fish are now enormous, it's unbelievable!
I acquired the jaguar when I worked at PetSmart and the store was being renovated back in December 2010. They were removing 1/4 of the fish tanks and had numerous species on clearance, including the jags, for .99 cents. People were buying 3 at a time for their 20 gallon tanks, no matter how much I tried to convince them otherwise. So I took the very last one home when he was only about 2 inches. He's now easily pushing 10-12 inches.
I purchased the festae in June 2011, and she was 3 inches. She's probably about 8 inches now, and absolutely gorgeous.
The GT was a rescue, brought in to the LFS back in May 2011 in very rough shape, at about 5 inches. He's doing very well and has grown a couple inches, and his nuchal hump is starting to become quite visible!
I also have 2 lima shovelnose cats, one is about 12 inches, one is about 9; and 11 clown loaches between 4-6 inches.
Here are some pics! They were taken with my phone so they aren't the greatest quality.
