A 75 gal with eight Discus, fake plants, and a lot of wood also with sand substrate. Clean up crew is down to just two Sterba's Corys. Filters: continuous new water flow; canister w/UV, in-tank algae scrubber!! Finally, junked the nitrate removal unit from hell.
Nice fish! I have seen the blue one with the black bars in my lfs before, never seen the yellow though. When it comes to discus are they just colour morphs or seperate species/sub-species?

Breeders have been at it for years - these yellows have no bars what-so-ever. They are true discus but this color can not exist in the wild due to dinner issues (them being on the menu as prime dish.) But the genes are there and the breeder just selects for it. These do have some red lines on the fins as you can see and are very nice. I have two but they are not interested in mating.
A true blue should not have bars if the breeder did his job well - I have four of these and two are paired off but the male is too bumb to get the point after the female lays the eggs. Bars on the more natural fish is normal and for me, perferred.

I didn't expect them to survive in the wild as it isn't very camoflaged, I can get the totaly blue ones with no bars at my lfs, believe it or not they are the cheaper ones. love the pics!!
Thank you very much - I've upgraded the tank since then.
