    Caught this guy in a river. Tilapia were introduced here a couple hundred years ago and have since established themselves. I'm thinking a nile tilapia or hybrid.

    How about this one;

    When I go fishing I just place a sharp rock in the water and sit there waiting for all the dead fish to float to the top... Kingfisher
    Everything Happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you are stupid and make bad decisions.
    I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
    A moderator on a fish forum should be able to identify an oscar... Don't you think?

    I think you are right when you say nile tilapia allthough they look a bit low bodied for a pure nile tilapia so a hybrid is a distinct possibility. Another possibility is that it just have been little to eat in that river for a while. They might grow taller with a bit of extra food.

    Emerati is unlikely since they have a small range (from what is known) and is unlikely to have made their way to Trinidad all that time ago. Not impossible but unlikely.
    Do as I say. Not as I do.

    I agree with Openbook.If it is one,it will get rather large,something like a oscar.They will also eat fish that fit in their mouth.They are common in South-Africa and ive tried to catch them.They'll take almost anything(earthworms,bread,spinners,soft baits etc....)so feeding him shouldn't be issue,like im sure you've already found out.I realy like these fish and think they will make a great aquarium fish.
