  1. Unhappy Green Terror mouth problems

Hi everyone. I'm stressing over my gt. He has not eaten for 2 days now. He hides at the bottom of the tank, behind the plants. His mouth/jaw seems to be stuck open and he seems to be "panting'. I do h20 changes twice a week on his 60 gallon tank. Only tankmate is a 2 1/2 inch common pleco. I feed him ghost shrimp, cichlid pellets or flakes once a day and my ammonia is 0, nitrites 0 and nitrate is >10. Here is a video link of him with his mouth issue. I really love him. Please help me.

Any chance you could get some pics

Maybe it's just my lap-top, but I could not see what you were referring to in the video.

Or maybe you could try looking up / googling pics of common fish diseases to see if anything looks like it

I wish I could be of more help than that
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

Hi Cliff. Thanks for your speedy reply. Sorry about the video. My gt has lockjaw type symptoms. He is unable to close his mouth completely and I have not seen him open his mouth completely as well. The movements he makes with his mouth is very restricted. He had a big appetite up until 2-3 days ago. Are there any diseases or injuries that sound similar to my gt? I have googled with no luck. I don't know what I should do next.

His mouth looks to be working to me. He's breathing very heavily, that is a sign of stress. I don't know what could be causing the stress but he is struggling. There's not much I know of that you can do to help him besides a 50% water change and maybe leave the lights off for a couple days. They can go a long time without eating. Maybe wait to feed him for a few more days or until he seems better and offer him something live.
