What the heck...
Was about to clean out the 1 filter on my small species tank (I haven't touched this one in several months) and I discovered what I believe is either an all-knowing, god-like brain watching over my fish, or, a sac of eggs. I've never seen a sac this massive before lol, it's bigger than the biggest snail in there!? Over 2"!
Which I would assume is a type of snail eggs because of it's location.
but here is what made me post on here..
I felt it.. rock hard.. so I thought it's been there for awhile. Maybe I had the water level maxed out at some point in the past, so they were laid at the water surface, but later dried when I lowered the water.
I broke it off, it fell in the water and floated.. so I picked it up to look at it closer, and within seconds, wherever I touched it the skin started to sting, almost like a burning/pricking feeling!??! I was like OWw mother****** what the??
It actually made the hair on my neck stand up.
Am I wrong in assuming it's eggs, not some crazy fungus growing on my filter?Last edited by DeadSulphurhead; 03-24-2012 at 01:33 AM.

it's an apple/mystery snail clutch. They lay them above the waterline. They require good humidity (but not submersion) to hatch.

Forgot I even had one in there like 3 months ago lol he would have been my first suspect. Took him out for being too venturous. I feel dumb now, thanks though.

As for the feeling on my hands, is that normal, or am I allergic or something!? (Only known allergy is bee venom, which is decreasing)

never heard of anyone having an allergic reaction - no idea. I handled a clutch once and had no such reaction.
