Default Adding air to a tank (hypothetical)

If I wanted to add air bubbles to a tank, would there be any reason not to do it via a sponge filter?

It just seems that if I'm going to add air (for whatever reason) might as well throw in some nice filtration to boot.

I would go right ahead and add the sponge filter! It's extra filtration, extra oxygen, and sponge filters are great for building nice bacteria colonies to keep your tank nicely cycled!

Sure, why not... You're going to be running an air pump anyway.

im using a Teltrec 1200 , i was told with the 1200 on that tank,i don't need extra filtration.

Would u agree with this statement ::I personally don't like bubbles in a tank,it could just add more stress to the fish.::

I would disagree with that statement. All that is really necessary is surface agitation to complete the gas exchange process. Air bubbles are beneficial when your filtration doesn't offer adequate surface agitation.

That's what I figured, just hadn't seen it discussed and wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something here.
