  1. Default 125g stand... need input if I built it right

Bought a 125g tank yesterday, built a stand last night.

From the picture what do you think for support? Making it look nice is easy but my main concern is supporting the weight. I read articles and all that and this is what I came up with in my head and built it.

2x6 base, 2x6 top, 2x4's for the corners, 2x4 back center support (I have a 2x4 for the front too just not installed and a brace in the center on the top part of the stand. Also 2"x6"x24 on the front corners and will place the same on the back corners.

    thanks!

I would add two extra 2X4s directly between the 2X6 that run horizontially across the top across the lenght of the tank (front and back). I think that is what you were referring to as the two pcs not yet installed. I just thought I would mention it just incase I did not understand you correctly.

It might be overkill, but I would want direct wood to floor contact on those two pc of wood to make sure it is as strong as possible

    Looks good so far
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

The 2x4's to add... from the picture... you are saying to add two 2x4 between the front top 2x6 and back 2x6?

Direct wood to floor contact.... you mean the botton of the stand where it makes contact with the floor? or you thinking something else? If its to the floor... I have ripped the floor out and added 3/4" sheet of plywood along the steel beams for support.

Below is what I was trying to explain. I would add two 2X4s as shown below in light blue, both in the front and in the back

ahhh I get it now. I was thinking that which is one reason I made this post. I will add that.

    Any other suggestions?

You need to add plywood or diagonal 2x4's going opposite front and back and the same on the sides, thin plywood would work fine. Without that kind of support your subjected to horizontal collapse. A 125g tank with water and gravel will weigh around 1250 lbs!
    29 gallon cichlid tank
    10 gallon kids livebearers tank
    5 gallon dirt planted tank
