40g Angel Dilemma
I recently bought a pair of angels had them going on a week . the tank isnt set up (aquascape wise) but it seems like i have a bully within the two. what should i do ? should i remove the bully and get two to replace him to make three , or just add another one so the agression will be spaced out ? in the am i have 12 emperor tetras coming in that i bought. as dither fish will they smooth out the agression? I feel adding a third one to the party may smooth it out but im not sure. these angels are being housed with 12 emperor tetras 2 pearl gouramis and a german blue ram.

I will say the same thing I wrote in your PM last week. Angels do not need to be with others and get along just fine alone. Angels get along with their mate. That's it. They are not lovey dovey with other angels in the tank. It's not necessary they have a mate, either, unless you plan to raise babies and find homes for.
But your angels are still young and probably establishing a pecking order. There will always be an alpha. They may or they may not do well together later on and may even end up being a pair. If not, you will probably have to separate them.Last edited by Lady Hobbs; 11-03-2011 at 03:50 AM.

Your quickest fix is this
Put some scape in there, Lots of it and the sooner the better.
It need not be pretty or permanent. Just anything to break up the territory and provide some cover.

The tank isnt bare or anything like that its just not set up . i have some driftwood a clay pot and a bunch of tall anubias in the tank making it look like a jungle unitil i fix it so you can say that they can use those elements as territory.
I also feel 2 or more looks better then just one angel but if im not lucky enough to find two that will get along then i will settle. I dont mind having a mating pair either as i could easily raise the fry in my 20g i have laying around and then sell them or donate them to my lfs for store credit.
Let me refer this question to the future when my angels are a bit mature and one is beating the snot out of the other should
A) Buy another angel, take the bully out and then re intro him?
B) Remove the weaker angel to my other tank?
I know me and i know i will either PM someone that question or bump this thread back up so to get that out of the way LOL. A sounds good but there a good chance it will just happen again.110g All Male Peacock/Hap Tank

No matter how many times you ask, or who you ask, the answer will be the same. Once they start fighting they don't usually stop. Once one becomes dominant it will most likely kill anything else it doesn't want in its tank. Period.

Those details would have been helpful BB - I didn't realize how long you have been dealing with this while making no progress.
Try to figure out that they need to be apart before you ask about it another 3000 times.
It will save everyone A LOT of trouble and repeating, For real.
