Thread: stocking idea

Hybrid View

  1. Default stocking idea

so my cichlids were moved out of the 29g...and it's empty. Sandy bottom with some driftwood..no plants. I was thinking of a very peaceful tank with some dwarf gouramis and a bristlenose. only 1 bn, but how many gouramis..? i was planning on all females..and uhh..yeah, is this okay? can i fit more in there? any other suggestions ???

In a lot of places, females are impossible to find. Mine included, so I cannot say how multiple females will do in a 29. Multiple males will not work, that is for sure.

I think you could do some small tetras, cherry barbs, kuhli loaches and a single gourami.
    Show tanks - 125, 125, 90, 10, 5
    Quarantine tanks - 29, 29, 20H, 20L

  3. Default

Make sure to keep atleast one fish in there to keep the tank cycled
55g- blood parrots, hatchetfish, SAE, bristlenose plecos
    75G-oscar

IF you can find female Dwarfs (silverish/drab in color, the fin-shape method won't work to sex Dwarfs) you could do three - but still keep an eye out just in case you get a moody one. It's not actually a gaurantee that female Gouramis will get along peacefully, just like it's a "hit or miss", "try it and see", etc with species like female bettas. Even in calmer species like Dwarves there are some real witches.

If you can't find female Dwarfs, I'd suggest one male of any 6'' and under species.
    A severe lack of trichogaster.

Just because your Gourami is sick does not mean it is always Iridovirus, DGIV, Gourami Disease, et cetera.
Look at all the other factors in your tank before coming to this conclusion.
