Gouramis and long poop

My awesome gourami also has awesome pooping ability.

There seems to constantly be a sring of poo he is dragging around the tank, and many times this line of poo will be 3-4 inches long. Many times when the the poop is coming out his color gets faded and pale, and the moment he is done, his color goes back to being bold and brilliant.

Is there cause for concern?

some fish are well know for their poop strings they bring with them wherever they go. Plecos, for one example. In my experience (which has been limited to pearl gouramis, so not exactly the same species as yours) this isn't the case for gouramis. I'd be a little concerned that this is a sign of a problem. How does the poop itself look? Is it uniform and consistent in color, or is it white or stringy?

My honey gourami has the exact same affliction. He constantly trails a string of poop longer than himself for some reason. I have heard that trailing poop can be a sign of overfeeding so I tried feeding half rations with no avail. It probably doesn't hurt to try the same with your fish though...
