Best fish food?

I've used Tetra for years. Good stuff. Recently I bought some hikari algae wafers and I'm really impressed by that product. If I was out of general purpose food now I'd probably by the tropical micro wafers

New Life Spectrum, Hikari, Omega One, Ocean Nutrition -- all those are good brands. I give Sera O-Nips to my dojo loaches. They're a little rich, so I usually alternate them with the veggie rounds.

It's best to feed a variety -- spirulina flakes, algae pellets (Omega One Veggie Rounds), frozen or freeze-dried bloodworms, live or frozen brine shrimp or misis shrimp, freeze-dried daphnia -- just offer your fish a nice balanced diet in sizes they can handle, and they should do great.

I've used TetraMin for years as my staple. I also have Tetra vegetable flakes and Sera catfish tabs which seem quite good and are nice and small for my cories (I put two in a day normally).

I also have New Life Spectrum cichlid pellets which I throw in occasionally (although I don't have cichlids any more)...just to use them up. They were excellent pellets for small cichlids.

I used to shrug off the question of what fish food is best. I mean, fish food is fish food, right? Well, when it comes to high quality pellets for your larger fish (keep them plump and colorful!) I am definitely a convert to New Life Spectrum. I also will use Hikari from time to time. You may look at the price of NLS and be turned off, like I was. But I am now feeding fish way less often and they are in much better condition than they were when I had to constantly feed with other lower quality dried feed.

I've always been told to buy the best branded specialist feed for whatever species you are keeping. I agree that New Life Spectrum produces good species-specific foods.

One thing I've been told to avoid is things like freeze dried bloodworms which only act to fatten up your fish (literally with fat) without giving them any colour benefits.

Oh god..

I think its an ongoing battle of NLS(i feed it, my rummynose look 30x better than lfs) and varied diet...(live foods, frozen foods, veggies...)
