Filter Help
Hello, first post
Might be a daft question
Just bought a fish tank for 3 goldfish, the filter that was supplied with the tank is a Q116 filter?
On the end of the nozzle which is the output for the water there is a smaller output hole, this was supplied with a pipet like tube with a black ball on the end
There is no instructions for this, ive currently got it attached as it made sense, just water seems abit cloudy today (poss new gravel dust)
What is the attachement for? Pictured attached
Much help
Cheers!

Does it require an air pump? I have no idea what kind of filter that is. Sorry

No i dont think so, it was a easy starter set from pets at home
The instructions offer no advice on this pipet tube

First off, welcome to a/c. As for your filter... Turn the nozzle so that the clear tube is above the waters surface. It will suck in air and airate the tank. You should be able to adjust it by turning the little end cap. Now as for the cloudiness... It will probably get worse before it gets better. Guessing that your tank still needs to cycle.

This is not a filter, it is only a pump as it says so on the manual -- "Aquarium Pump".
You do need a separate filter, plus i sure hope this tank is over 60G..Da name's Paul. Not Dave. ROFL

All I bought was a easy starter kit from pets at home
It's a 24 litre tank that comes according to the sticker that was on the box it includes a filter
Here's what I bought

Well then, that is not even 10G (10G=40L), 24L = 6G. Not even suitable for even 1 goldfish. I suggest you go ahead and return those fish and get something appropriate for the tank. A betta perhaps will work.

According to bottom of box it suits 2/3 single tailed goldfish.

Companies are really bad about saying what fish go in what tank. If you go buy a five gallon kit from walmart it shows about 10 fish in it....all livebearers and messy fish that dont belong there. The goldfish might live in there for a few days....but since you need to cycle the ammonia will likely kill them before they get a chance to grow. Waterchanges can keep ammonia down but would then allow the fish to live until it will have its growth stunted from not having enough space. A stunted fish will have a short and unhappy life.
^Paul is not trying to steer you would or be mean....but companies and employees often dont tell you what size tank is needed for your fish.....and goldfish are often what get the worst of it.
Good luck with your tank, if I were you I would get a heater and cycle the tank, then either get a betta or some shrimp for your setup.
